User Manual
How to open your METACEL safe, set two user passcodes, register fingerprints, replace batteries and use the emergency key.
Before you begin
Keep the door open while changing settings and checking operation. Store the emergency keys in another secure place outside the safe so you can reach them if the safe cannot be opened electronically.
1. First use & safety
First-use checklist
- Identify the START button, fingerprint sensor, inside S button and battery compartment.
- Open with the factory passcode 123456 if it has not been changed.
- Set your personal passcode using the User 1 or User 2 procedure. Check it with the door open before closing the safe.
- Register fingerprints if desired, and keep the emergency keys in a separate secure location.
Handling and installation
- Keep fingers and objects clear of the door. Keep children away.
- Take care around the edges of the safe to avoid injury.
- Take care when moving or installing the safe. Use professional assistance when needed; improper handling may damage floors or furniture.
- Secure the safe firmly to the floor during installation. See the anchoring procedure.
- Do not place fragile glass or ceramic objects on top of the safe; they may fall and cause injury.
- Place the safe on a dry, flat surface so the door can close correctly.
Reference: PDF page 1, and PDF page 2 (printed pages 01–02).
2. Parts & controls
- LCD: displays prompts, settings and error messages.
- Touch keypad and START: used to enter and confirm passcodes.
- Fingerprint sensor: used when registering fingerprints.
- S memory button: inside the door, used for passcodes, fingerprints and volume settings.
- B and W buttons: marked not in use in this manual.
- Inside parts: tray, locking bolts, door sensor, LED light, battery case and alarm.
The accessories illustrated in the manual include an anchor kit, mechanical override keys, batteries, a USB-C power-supply accessory and an alarm.
Reference: PDF page 2 (printed pages 01–02).
3. Opening the safe
- Press START.
- Enter your current passcode. The factory setting is 123456.
- Press START again to confirm.
- Pull the door open.
Hide the passcode display: press START twice to activate security mode. To disable it, press START twice again. See privacy and keypad settings.
If Err-03 or CH-03 appears, the passcode is incorrect. Five incorrect entries trigger a 3-minute alarm; enter the correct passcode or wait for that alarm to stop.
If the safe does not respond because its batteries are depleted, see emergency USB-C power. If you have forgotten the passcode, the manual directs you to use the mechanical override key.
After use, close the door carefully and check that it is secured before leaving the safe.
Reference: PDF pages 2–4 and 6 (printed pages 02–05 and 10).
4. User 1 / User 2 passcodes
The safe supports two user passcodes, each 4–20 digits long. Choose the user slot before entering the new passcode.
Keep the door open during setup. Test the new passcode before closing the safe.
- Open the door and press the S button on the back of the door.
- Wait for CodE, then USEr_.
- Select 1 for User 1 or 2 for User 2, then press START.
- Enter the new 4–20 digit passcode, then press START.
- When AgAin and the dash prompt appear, enter the same new passcode again and press START.
- Check the confirmation: USEr_1 for User 1 or USEr_2 for User 2.
- Check the new passcode with the door open.
| User slot | Selection | Confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| User 1 | 1 → START | USEr_1 |
| User 2 | 2 → START | USEr_2 |
If setup times out: repeat the procedure promptly. The troubleshooting guide specifies entering the passcode within 5 seconds. Contact the purchase store if the keypad or button malfunctions.
Reference: PDF page 2 (printed page 02) and PDF page 6 (printed page 10).
5. Register or delete fingerprints
Register a fingerprint
- Open the door.
- Hold the inside S button for 3 seconds, until SEt appears.
- Briefly press S once more. The screen displays FIngEr.
- Press 0 to register a fingerprint.
- Scan the fingerprint twice. Up to 10 fingerprints can be registered.
Delete one fingerprint
- Open the door and hold S for 3 seconds until SEt appears.
- Briefly press S once more to display FIngEr.
- Press 1 to enter fingerprint deletion.
- Enter the ID number of the fingerprint to delete.
Delete all fingerprints
This removes all registered fingerprints. In the deletion sequence, press the S button instead of entering an individual fingerprint ID, as shown in PDF page 3.
Reference: PDF page 3 (printed page 03).
6. Batteries & emergency power
Safe batteries: four AA alkaline
Use four 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries in the safe's battery case, located inside the door. Check the marked battery direction. Correct insertion is confirmed by good and a beep.
Check operation before closing the door after battery replacement.
When to replace them
- The display shows Lo_bAt.
- The door fails to open when OPEn appears after passcode entry.
- good appears with “beep beep” after passcode entry.
- The screen does not turn on when START is pressed.
- The touch-button display is faint, there is no response, or operation malfunctions.
Read “good” in context: after fitting batteries it confirms correct insertion; with “beep beep” after passcode entry, it is listed as a reason to replace the batteries.
USB-C emergency power
If the internal batteries are depleted, the manual identifies a USB-C emergency power port that can be used to supply power for opening the door.
- Locate the USB-C port shown in the illustration and use the power-supply accessory specified for the safe.
- With emergency power connected, follow the normal opening sequence: START, current passcode, START, then pull the door open.
- Replace the internal batteries and confirm normal operation before closing the door.
Separate alarm batteries: the alarm uses three 1.5 V AAA batteries. These are separate from the safe's four AA batteries.
Reference: PDF pages 2–3 (printed pages 01, 03–04).
7. Privacy, keypad lock & volume
Security mode: hide the passcode
Press START twice to hide the passcode display. Press START twice again to disable this function.
Keypad lock mode
| Action | Procedure |
|---|---|
| Activate | Hold START for more than 10 seconds until Act appears. |
| Deactivate | Hold START for more than 3 seconds until dEAct appears. |
When keypad lock mode is active, keypad input displays Act. Deactivate the mode before attempting normal passcode entry.
Adjust volume
- Open the door and hold the inside S button for 3 seconds until SEt appears.
- Briefly press S twice more. The display shows VoL.
- Choose a level from 0 to 7.
- Press START to confirm.
Reference: PDF page 3 (printed page 04) and PDF page 4 (printed page 05).
8. Using the alarm
The separate alarm unit uses three 1.5 V AAA batteries. Use its ON/OFF switch to control it.
- Check that the alarm's three AAA batteries are installed correctly.
- Turn the ON/OFF switch ON.
- The alarm is ready to operate 10 seconds after switching on.
The manual specifies a 120 dB alarm triggered by external impact or tilting of the safe. Its light sensor disables the alarm when the door is open.
The incorrect-passcode alarm is covered separately in troubleshooting: after five incorrect entries, enter the correct passcode or wait 3 minutes for that alarm to stop.
Reference: PDF page 3 (printed page 04) and PDF page 6 (printed page 10).
9. Emergency key: full procedure
Use the mechanical override key to open the door temporarily if the safe cannot be operated electronically, or if you have forgotten the passcode.
Keep emergency keys outside the safe. Store them in another secure place. The manual states that lost keys cannot be additionally purchased and that the customer is responsible for loss or theft.
A. Remove the front panel and open the door
- Attach the suction cup to the top-left area of the decorative front panel (called the “front pattern” in the manual).
- Pull the suction cup to remove the decorative panel and expose the keyhole.
- Insert the emergency key fully with its groove facing upward.
- Slowly turn the key 120° clockwise to unlock, then open the door. Do not force or over-rotate the key.
B. Remove batteries and return the key
- With the door open, remove all the safe's batteries and leave them out for more than 10 seconds.
- Turn the key 120° counter-clockwise to return it, then remove the key.
Do not skip battery removal. The manual warns that error-05 may appear if the batteries are not removed, and that fitting the front panel while batteries are installed may cause a touch-panel error.
C. Refit the front panel while batteries remain removed
- Align the panel with the right-hand edge of the door cover.
- Insert the hook on the panel's right-hand edge into the groove in the door cover.
- Slowly fit the rest of the panel into place.
D. Reboot and register settings
- Reinsert the batteries to reboot the safe.
- Follow the manual's recovery sequence: register a new passcode and register the required fingerprints, up to 10.
- Check operation with the door open before closing it.
If a touch-panel error occurs after refitting, remove all the safe's batteries, wait 10 seconds, then reinsert them, as directed in the manual.
Reference: PDF pages 4–5 (printed pages 05–07).
10. Anchoring the safe
Install the anchor in the floor before bolting down the safe. Use professional installation assistance when needed. Check the supplied anchor and concrete-floor requirements before drilling.
| Item | Specification in the manual |
|---|---|
| Anchor bolt | 3/8 inch × 4 inches (M10 × 101 mm) |
| Hole diameter | 9/16 inch (14 mm) |
| Hole depth in concrete | 2 inches (50 mm) |
| Wrench | 14 mm |
- Check the actual anchor size and drill the specified hole in concrete.
- Insert the anchor bolt and anchor pipe.
- Fit the flat washer and nut, then tighten with the specified wrench so the anchor pipe expands and secures into the floor.
- Remove the nut and washer.
- Position the safe so the floor anchor passes through the centre hole in its base.
- Fit the anchor cap, flat washer, lock washer and nut, then tighten, following the original assembly diagram.
- Fit the anchor cover over the hole to prevent foreign material entering. The bolt may need to be cut to fit.
