Opening, passcodes, fingerprint setup, batteries, the alarm and installation—organized so you can find the steps you need.
Before changing settings
Keep the door open during passcode or fingerprint setup and check operation before closing it. For emergency power, use the original specified battery pack; the manual excludes high-speed USB-PD and PPS chargers.
1. First use & safety
First-use checklist
- Locate the START button, fingerprint sensor, S memory button and battery case.
- Use your supplied or current passcode to open the safe. If you do not know it, contact the purchase store.
- Follow the setup sequence applicable to your safe to set a personal passcode.
- Check the new passcode with the door open before closing the safe. Register fingerprints if required.
Handling and placement
- Keep fingers and objects clear of the door when opening or closing it. Keep children away.
- Take care around the safe's edges to avoid injury.
- The safe is heavy. Take care when moving or installing it and use professional assistance when needed.
- Secure the safe firmly to the ground during installation. Improper handling may damage floors or furniture.
- Do not place fragile glass or ceramic objects on the safe, where they may fall.
- Place the safe on a flat surface so the door can close correctly.
Care and storage

Reference: PDF page 3 (printed page 3) and PDF page 4 (printed page 4).
3. Opening the safe
- Press START.
- Enter your current passcode.
- Press START again to confirm.
- Pull the door open within 3–4 seconds.
Passcode unknown? The supplied MTC manual does not state a factory passcode. Contact the store where you purchased the safe rather than trying a code from another model.
Err-03 or CH-03 indicates an incorrect passcode. Five consecutive incorrect entries trigger a 3-minute alarm. Press START and enter the correct passcode to stop it; the troubleshooting table also permits waiting 3 minutes for that alarm to stop.
For privacy, press START twice to hide the passcode display. If the safe cannot open because its batteries are low, see emergency power.
After use, close the door carefully and check that it is secured before leaving the safe.
Reference: PDF page 4 (printed page 4), PDF page 3 (printed page 6) and PDF page 2 (printed page 7).
4. Passcodes: 1-user / 2-user mode
The manual provides both setup sequences. It does not explain switching between modes or assign them to individual model numbers. Follow the sequence and prompts for your safe; ask the purchase store if you are unsure.
Keep the door open while setting and checking a new passcode. Passcodes can contain 4–20 digits.
2-user mode
- Open the door and press the S button on its back.
- Wait for CodE, followed by USEr_.
- Press 1 for User 1 or 2 for User 2, then START.
- Enter the new 4–20 digit passcode, then press START.
- When AgAin and the dash prompt appear, enter the same new passcode again and press START.
- Check for USEr_1 or USEr_2, matching the selected user.
- Test the new passcode with the door open.
1-user mode
The original manual lists this shorter sequence:
- Open the door.
- Press the inside S button.
- Wait for CodE.
- Enter the new 4–20 digit passcode.
- Enter the same new passcode again.
- Press START.
Check operation with the door open. If your unit asks for a confirmation between the two entries or its prompts differ, follow the supplied instructions for that unit or contact the purchase store.
If setup times out: repeat the procedure without pausing. The troubleshooting guide specifies entering the passcode in under 5 seconds. Contact the purchase store for a keypad or button fault.
Reference: PDF page 4 (printed page 4) and PDF page 3 (printed page 6).
5. Register or delete fingerprints
Register a fingerprint
- Open the door.
- Hold the inside S button for 3 seconds, until SEt appears.
- Briefly press S once more. The display shows FingEr.
- Press 0 to register a fingerprint.
- Scan the fingerprint twice. Up to 10 fingerprints can be registered.
Delete one fingerprint
- Open the door and hold S for 3 seconds until SEt appears.
- Briefly press S once more to show FingEr.
- Press 1 to enter deletion.
- Enter the number of the fingerprint to delete.
Delete all registered fingerprints
This removes every registered fingerprint. In the deletion sequence, press S instead of entering an individual fingerprint number, as directed on PDF page 4, printed page 5.
Reference: PDF page 4 (printed page 5).
6. Batteries & emergency power
Safe and alarm batteries
| Part | Batteries shown in manual |
|---|---|
| Safe | Four 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries |
| Separate alarm unit | Three 1.5 V AAA batteries |
Locate the safe's battery case using the inside illustration. If Lo_bAt appears, replace the batteries. For no response, check that the batteries are inserted correctly and replace depleted batteries.
Remove batteries during long periods of non-use, as instructed under Before Use.
USB-C emergency battery pack
An external battery pack can supply power if low internal batteries prevent opening. The manual places the port at the left side of the door.
- Locate the USB-C port matching your safe's layout.
- Connect the original emergency battery pack or a replacement confirmed for this safe by the purchase store.
- Follow the normal opening sequence: START, current passcode, START, then pull the door open.
- Replace depleted internal batteries and check normal operation before closing the door.
Use the specified emergency pack. The manual recommends the original pack, lists 5 V / 2 A and describes an output limit of less than 10 W. Confirm a replacement pack's suitability with the purchase store. Do not use high-speed USB-PD or PPS chargers. The manual excludes coverage for problems caused by unauthorized packs.
Reference: PDF page 3 (printed pages 3 and 6), PDF page 4 (printed pages 4–5) and PDF page 2 (printed page 2).
7. Keypad lock, privacy & volume
Keypad lock mode
| Action | Procedure |
|---|---|
| Activate | Hold START for more than 10 seconds, until Act appears. |
| Deactivate | Hold START for more than 3 seconds, until dEAct appears. |
While active, keypad input displays Act. Removing batteries does not cancel keypad lock mode. Use the START hold procedure to deactivate it.
Security mode: hide the passcode
Press START twice to hide the passcode display.
Adjust volume
- Open the door.
- Hold S for 3 seconds until SEt appears.
- Briefly press S twice more.
- When Vol appears, choose a level from 0 to 4.
- Press START to confirm.
Reference: PDF page 2 (printed page 7).
8. Using the alarm
The alarm uses a separate set of three 1.5 V AAA batteries. Use the alarm's ON/OFF switch to control it.
- Check the alarm's AAA battery supply.
- Turn the ON/OFF switch ON.
- The unit is ready to operate 10 seconds after switching on.
External impact or tilting triggers the alarm, specified as 120 dB in the manual. Its light sensor disables the alarm when the door is open.
The incorrect-passcode alarm is described separately: after five incorrect entries, enter the correct passcode or wait 3 minutes for that alarm to stop.
Reference: PDF page 4 (printed page 5) and PDF page 3 (printed page 6).
9. Anchoring the safe
Only for safes with pre-drilled anchor holes. Install the anchor in the floor before bolting down the safe. Anchor sizes vary by model; confirm the supplied hardware and use professional installation assistance when needed.
| Metric anchor size listed | Hole diameter listed |
|---|---|
| M6 × 50 mm | 10 mm |
| M10 × 101 mm | 14 mm |
| M10 × 152 mm | 14 mm |
- Check the anchor size. The original specifies a hole depth of 50 mm (2 inches). Confirm the hole requirements for the actual anchor and floor before drilling.
- Insert the anchor bolt and pipe into the hole.
- Fit the flat washer and nut. Tighten with the 14 mm wrench specified in the manual so the anchor expands and secures into the floor.
- Remove the nut and washer.
- Position the safe so the anchor passes through the centre hole in its base.
- Fit the washer, lock washer and nut, then tighten.
The bolt may need to be cut. Fit the cover over the hole for fire resistance, as directed in the original manual.

11. Frequently asked questions
What is the factory passcode?
The supplied MTC manual does not state one. Use the passcode supplied for your safe, or contact the purchase store if it is unknown.
Does this safe support two passcodes?
The manual provides a 2-user procedure, with separate User 1 and User 2 passcodes, as well as a 1-user procedure. Follow your safe's prompts or ask the purchase store to confirm the applicable mode.
How many times should I scan a fingerprint?
Twice during registration. Up to 10 fingerprints can be registered.
Will removing batteries cancel keypad lock?
No. Hold START for more than 3 seconds until dEAct appears to deactivate the mode.
Can I use a fast charger for emergency power?
No. The manual excludes high-speed USB-PD and PPS chargers and recommends the original emergency battery pack. Ask the purchase store to confirm a replacement pack before using it.
Are the alarm batteries separate?
Yes. The safe uses four AA batteries; the alarm uses three AAA batteries. See the original component illustration and battery table.
